Comprehensive treatment of diabetes

Diabetes is a class of diseases which fall under metabolic disorders and it can develop in a person of any age.  When your body becomes resistant to insulin or cannot use it properly, it results in fluctuations of the glucose levels and your blood sugar can become to high or too low.  If you suspect you have diabetes, you must make an appointment to receive an assessment and diagnosis from your doctor.  Once you know if you have diabetes or not, you can decide how to treat it and you can find out more information about holistic treatment for diabetes.

What are the different types of diabetes?

There are three major types of diabetes you can develop and these include Diabetes Type I, which means your body makes no insulin. If you have Diabetes Type II, you do not produce enough insulin or your insulin is not working properly in your body.  There is also Gestational Diabetes which can develop during pregnancy, but this type generally resolves after the birth of the child.  No matter what type of diabetes you may have, there are traditional treatments which you will need such as medications and possibly insulin shots, but you can also talk to a holistic health practitioner about the various holistic diabetes treatments available as well.

Why is treatment so important to the life of a diabetic?

All types of diabetes will require medical attention and lifetime treatment, because it is a chronic condition and there is no cure for it.  In type I diabetes, you will receive insulin on a daily basis and will be advised to make dietary and lifestyle changes.  In people with type II diabetes, you could receive insulin tablets, and it may be necessary to change your diet and increase your exercise and in time, insulin injections may be needed.  The reason why it is so important to receive treatment for diabetes is because you could have a higher risk of developing secondary health complications such as cardiovascular disease, retinal damage, chronic kidney failure, nerve damage, poor wound healing, gangrene, amputation and erectile dysfunction.  In addition to all the conventional ways of treating diabetes, you can also inquire about the benefits of using holistic treatment for diabetes type I, type II and gestational diabetes.
